Main Street Waterloo seeks an energetic Executive Director to work with its Board of Directors to coordinate downtown revitalization strategies using the Main Street Approach. With a population of approximately 68,000, the community of Waterloo is the regional business hub for northeast Iowa. Located at the center of Iowas agricultural industry, the city is home to John Deere and Hawkeye Community College. Huge strides have been made in the last 14 years to revitalize downtown Waterloo. The Executive Director will not only maintain momentum, but lead downtown to the next level.
Duties
Act as the key spokesperson and advocate for Main Street Waterloo and the downtown revitalization effort.
Work with this non-profits volunteers in developing and aggressively implementing an annual action plan.
Encourage visual improvements to downtown businesses and properties.
Recruit, retain and expand businesses.
Market and promote activities and events.
Maintain and build working relationships with public and non-governmental organizations.
Qualifications
Strong communication skills that foster collaboration.
A track record of verifiable success in downtown revitalization.
Working knowledge of the Main Street Approach.
Ability to develop a rapport with individuals in the business community.
Bachelor degree in one of the following: planning, economic development, business administration, historic preservation, public administration, public relations, or associated Downtown revitalization fields, or equivalent experience.
